Carbon Monoxide (CO) Testing:
Email Eric Spencer

Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless gas that pollutes the outdoor air as well as the indoor air. Some homes and buildings have been found to have concentrations of this gas that are above the federal health standard under the Clean Air Act for one hour exposure to outdoor air.

Major Sources: If venting and maintenance are not adequate, gas appliances (ranges, water heaters, clothes dryers, etc.), fireplaces, wood and coal stoves, burning charcoal, gasoline engines running in attached garages or sheds, kerosene heaters, and tobacco smoke can emit dangerous amounts of Carbon Monoxide.

Health Effects: Carbon monoxide interferes with the distribution of oxygen to the body. Depending on the amount inhaled, this gas can impede coordination, worsen cardiovascular conditions, and produce fatigue, headache, confusion, nausea and dizziness. Very high levels can cause death.

Controls: Have a certified technician inspect your furnace, water heater and gas clothes dryer at least once a year. Have the proper amount of combustion air needed for your particular application. Invest in a carbon monoxide detector and alarm (115 volt type). You should place one carbon monoxide detector and alarm on each level of living space in your home.

Choices: Choose the Geiler Company even if you think you might have a carbon monoxide problem. All of our service technicians are trained and carry carbon monoxide detectors for you and your family's safety and peace of mind. If you do have a problem we will recommend the proper solution, give you a price to rectify the problem and with your permission, implement the solution as soon as possible.

Radon Testing and Mitigation:
Email Steve Geiler
Radon is a colorless, odorless radioactive gas that occurs naturally in soil, rock and water. Radon has been determined by the American Lung Association to be the second leading cause of lung cancer. The longer your exposure to high levels of radon in your home, the greater your risk to develop lung cancer.

The Ohio Department of Health shows that radon levels in the Cincinnati Area are higher than the national average and strongly suggest every home should be tested to make sure occupants are not exposed to dangerous levels of radon gas.

The Geiler Company is certified by the Environmental Protection Agency and licensed through the State of Ohio Department of Health. We follow the EPA guidelines for radon testing and mitigation. The Geiler Company uses the most advanced and accurate radon testing equipment available today when radon testing your home or building.

Home and building owners receive a full report of our findings with our professional recommendations, including if mitigation is necessary. Radon can be effectively lowered to safe levels at reasonable costs.

For a Whole House Radon Test or for more information, call The Geiler Company at 574-1200.

For additional information on radon call your local American Lung Association at 1-800-LUNG-USA (1-800-586-4872).
